Hudson RADIO?

I was woundering i anyone could tell me about this radio i found it in my 57 dodge hooked up to a 12v reducer to a 6v, i looked for some infoon google all i could see was under images there was a 1948 commodor with one in it i would like to know the years and if theres any demand for these? its been on az craigsllist for awile with no hits... thanx

  • Looks like a 50 radio. lLook for small numbers stamped on the left side of the case. If the serial # starts with ZH the number will be GH694, if it starts with CH it'll be 742-1 I think, at least something close to that. If it were a 48/49 radio the number would be 8MH889. these #s are usually above the serial # pad in figures about the same size as the type on the computer screen. Hope this helps.

  • It says ZH 322708 GH694, so that means its 50's? and the radio is for sale 50$ im in glendale,az local pick up only
  • oh did it only come in one vehicle? or all. it worked when i had the reducer on it but it was mostly static with some faint music in back ground but the wiring was old and bare and rotting and the speakers where old 70s paper ones that had holes but it did put out sound to them when turned on.
  • Yup, your radio is an early 50. Zenith bailed out of the car radio business during 1950 and Colonial became the supplier for Hudson's radios for about 5 years.
