Rear Axle Seals for 1928 Essex
Hi,
Has anyone replaced the felt seals in the rear axle assembly with modern seals?
If so, any part description, sizes etc would be appreciated. Is it worth having the rear wheel bearing caps machined out to allow for a new neoprene seal to stop the grease as suggested by the bearing shop?
Looks like I need a new axle as it has been rubbing on the melt of the inner seal and not the felt - photo attached.:( Also the wheel nut thread is damaged which explains why there was no nut on it when I got the rear assembly in 97!
Is it possible to buy new rear wheel bearings?
My project is to restore the brakes to original and remove an attempt at hydraulic brakes which means replace the whole rear axle and diff.
