Tool Identification Help

I have a tool that was in a box of antique tools I've had for many years. I cannot figure out what it is used for. The Brand name is KD.and the tool number is 2015. U.S.Pat. 3.593.601. I have researched on line and cannot find any references to those numbers. I did send an email to KD, but haven't gotten a response. Overall length is 10"hadle diameter is 5/8" with a knurled section on the end about 3 3/8" .
The"working end has two jaws that appear to be set up to hold or spread something that is round. Adjustment is made with the threaded portion via a hex wrench in
the end of the threaded rod. Any ideas??

I am not sure but it looks like it might be a tool used to remove the bungs?-plugs in 55 gallon drums.You may not get a reply from KD if it is to old.May not be anyone there that remembers it.KD has changed owners at least 2 times since the early 1980s and none of the older hands were retained.Easco bought it in the early 80s.the tools were then made in Easco plants,some in springdale AR and some in Springfield Mas. Danaher tool group bought Easco in the late 80s and moved KD into another plant

By Golly you may have identified it! If that isn't it's intended purpose.. it sure would work ! I recently had a devil of a time geting a rusted bung out of a small drum. I made a floor lamp using an old oil bowser hand pump. Put the pump in a small 15 gallon drum. I wish I had known that I had the correct tool!

My wife wasn't really thrilled that it went on to our screened porch..I think she has gotten used to it..Now to figure out where to put the 4X8 board with all the old tools on it..

Sort of says it all, don't it. Can open an oil drum, fix your disc brakes, who know what else you can do with it.

I could certainly find a way to hammer something with it. I don't know if it'll work as good as a crescent wrench for that though... :whistle:

I got an email from the manufacturer.. They say it was in the 1972 tool catalog as a "Disc Brake Piston Popper". I think it's a keeper! It's been a long time since I had to remove a disc brake piston. They are sooo cheap to buy already rebuilt.. I did try removing a bung from a 55 gallon drum and it worked perfectly. Haven't used it as a hammer yet... so now i have a Multi Tasking Tool..
