Front Seat Adjuster Modifications
Hello Fellow Hudson Enthusiasts,
Do any of you fine backyard engineers out here have any suggestions for modification of the front seat adjuster on a Stepdown Hudson. I am 6'2" tall and am a heavyset person (i.e. fat man). When I get into the car the steering wheel is jammed against my midsection. I know you can adjust the seat by about an inch by rebolting it into the other holes but this isn't going to be near enough. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that the mechanism is working OK. There is quite a bit of adjustment on the Stepdown mechanism if it is working properly?0

I found after installing lap belts in mine my tummy didn't drag on the wheel
anymore .Pulled in just enough. The factory also had spacers to place under the rails. That is why those bolt's are so long. They were about 1/2 inch thick, perhaps if you put some
under the front it would tilt seat back. That may help,

Check with Paul Schuster, aka PAULARGETYPE He extended his seat a couple of inches on his Wasp convertible.0

The last post reminded me of a mod I saw on a Jet with a "Portly Driver".
He drilled new holes for the front mounts of the rail to floor. And in the back
it sat on small posts made of 1/2 " conduit about 5" long with threaded rod inside.

On Paul's seat, Ken S. bolted a plate that was 5/16 x 2 1/2" that was
6 inches longer than bracket to floor in original holes. He drilled new holes in plate and bolted bracket to plate and reinstalled seat to original brackets.
It works fine for Paul in his 50 Pacemaker convertible
