Help, where do these go?

I am reassembling the front end of my 54 Special and am having a senior moment. I have 4 rubber gaskets, each 2 and 1/4 inches square. Each has a hole in the center approximately 5/8 inches in diameter. They were at one time stapled to something. They are about 3/16 thick. I have another rubber gasket, same size as the others, but thicker at 5/16 inches. This one has no staple marks. Where do these go? I am wondering if the thicker one goes between the radiator surround and the front cross member that it bolts to. All the front end sheetmetal parts have been powder coated so I can't see any telltale marks.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Doug

I believe you're right about the fifth one, the other four, yikes, nothing like these came off my front end ('54 Hornet) as I recall, but pretty much all the rubber on mine was long gone. The only stapling I have found on my front sheet metal is on the splash guards and inner fenders. Sorry.

    Doug-

Not sure, but it sounds like what you are describing are the "connectors" that go on the 45-degree braces that go from the firewall to the frame. From brace to frame, the rubber joined the two.
  • RL, thanks for your response. I know what you are referring to and these gaskets are not for those braces. As I said in my thread, they have remnants of staples in them so they were fastened to some sheet metal somewhere.

The first parts go between the radiator core support and the front frame. There is a corresponding tab on the frame. The flat section should be the same size (approximately) as the parts you are describing. they isolate and align the front clip
