Fuel tank sending unit--46CCpe8

Getting close to the end now. I need a new fuel sending unit. Seems to me I recall that the one made for a Ford will work. Do the parts stores have them or can get them or is there another source?

I find that the lever on the heater is missing the tip where the cable connects. The lever is a permanent part of the bottom of the heater and made of pot metal. Is there some sort of fix or do I need to visit Stu Coleman for the heater bottom.

PS--Got the transmission in and the OD working. The engine was completely rebuilt by Terry Harkin and the transmission/overdrive by Al Saffrahn. We took it for a cruise yesterday and were tooling along on the freeway at 65 with plenty of air left under the footfeed. With that new engine, she goes like a gut-shot cat.

Took me back, it did, to about 1958. Although there were times when I did not think so, this undertaking was well worth the effort and the money. To see a car like this tooling down the freeway at freeway speeds and steady as a rock--well, it feels darn good.

I bought a repro for a 1946 Ford from Dennis Carpenter Early Ford Parts for my 54 Hornet and it works well. I don't know if the resistance range for your 46 is the same as the stepdowns and that may be the limiting factor. For my stepdown, the mounting flange, gasket and screw holes were identical although I has to use the Hudson screws for mounting. Cost was about $50 with shipping.
