anyone know where you start and what to do to adjust the truetone horns I have on the front of my 37 ? They are all out of adjustment to the point where I need to start at the beginning , there are several adjustments and each one changes how another one needs to be set . Thanks for any and all advice . BUD

Bud, I seem to recall that a good instruction procedure is in the '34-'37 Service manual. I had to go through it with my '36 some years ago. If you don't have a '37 manual or a multi-year one that covers that year, the club store has them.
  • HI PARK , I've got the 34-37 manual , went thru it page by page and can't find anything on horns . it's got a big article on radios , The horns I have are not stock , are after market mounted on the front fenders , the ones in my avatar . Have never seen any others like them , they have a loop in the trumpet , but I would think the adjustments would be the same as any of the exterior mounted Truetone horns , maybe not , any others I ever worked on only had one screw in the top part to set them . BUD, it's usually a combination of the air gap (between the electromagnet core and the moving points) and the screw setting you mentioned. But without a spec on what the air gap should be, seems like all you can do is change the air gap a little ib each direction and see what the effect is. Any chance you could find the maker of those horns and get a manual for them?
  • These dudes are real goodies !! Never seen anything like them . See if I get this right from memory . When you take the trumpet off There is an adjustment up inside that requires a special tool or make your own to adjust, it sets the vibrating plate , then another one that sets how far you can turn the trumpet in , then you set the trumpet and lock it in place with a screw on type lock . Then there is the screw on top that sets the points . Each one effects the next , get one wrong and they won't work and you don't know this untill you put it all back together, then to change any you gotta go back to the first one and go thru it again . Somebody has been in them before , the marks are there . They are Truetone brand . I've searched the net high and low and can't find a thing on them or a company to contact . My bald spot is agettin bigger !!
