Terraplane Hubcap
HJi, Im Jason and Im new to the forum. I have in my possession a Terraplane hubcap. I do not know the year model, but it is chrome with terraplane in red. It is in ok shape considering its age, as in it needs some work. I dont think its beyond repair by any means. Most importantly it is real. Its a shame to see it hanging on my wall, useless, with me knowing that someone out there needs it. Question is, what could I sell it for and to who? Anyone out there need it?

Jason, if you could take a photo of it and upload it here, possibly someone could tell you if they wanted it. There are an awful lot of dented and corroded hubcaps out there and, frankly, they don't bring an awful lot of money. You could check Ebay to see if there's something currently up for auction that comes close to what you have. There, you can see (eventually) what someone is actually willing to pay for it.0

Well I wasnt planning on making a killing on it. Its just a hub cap, but a little something would be nice. It isnt dented or corroded. It is a little pock-marked with rust, but as a former body man I can tell you it isnt anything that cant be blasted out and rechromed. Repaint the lettering after that and itll be good as new. Much more work that Im willing to put into it though, but for someone that cant buy a new one it might be worth it. Heres a pic...0

Well, here is a recent Ebay auction for four such hubcaps, and they all seem rather a bit more dented than you describe yours. The seller managed to get $76 for them, so (dividing by 4) that would seem that yours could theoretically be worth $19!0

jason, you're probably as well off to leave it on the wall. regards, tom0

I realize that the Hub Cap is not that rare, but I think we might be just a bit rough on Jason. I know my Hudson Eight caps cost considerablly more than that and I have a few extras in the shop about the same shape as Jason's cap--I would have loved to find one like his when I was looking.
However, with that said, Jason, you can now decide to play the Ebay game and see what kind of offer you can get or keep a rather neat piece of wall art... Or perhaps buy a Hudson to put it on? Good luck with your decision. Let us know what you decide...0
