I believe this is a new addition for the HET club's dealer listings!

Interesting - I wonder what year the DeSoto was. Here's a 1952 invoice for a used 1942 Hudson Traveler sedan, Model 10T. Note the price.

(I shamelessly stole this invoice off ebay).

    Sarah Young,
i bought a copy of the huson dealership listing a little while back. i also went to the library in springfield and went thru the microfilms of the old phone books for springfield and found a bunch of others that weren't listed in the het list. prob at least 8 more and made copys of them. i spent the whole afternoon and prob 5 bucks in copys on old stuff out of the phone books.
should i post them with addresses on this thread or send them to you so they can be included in the het listing? the phone books went back to teens and had a ton of neat stuff in them. it's amazing how much stuff has changed. you had to call funeral home to get a ride in ambulance. very few doctors restaurants, and lawyers lots of hardware stores, appliances, and radio repair.
  • From the motor # listed on the invoice, it's a model SD which would be around a 35. I don't have my listings with me right now so this is an educated guess.
  • Nice.... Really cool!

Sarah, why not do both. That way those of us who enjoy such things will have the info. And.. if the club issues a revised list they can include the info: I'm not sure the club intends to revise the book

Not sure how I managed to steal the thread, but if someone did research and wants to share it, it's their information to do with as they see fit. Sometimes sharing sparks interest in others to do research at their local libraries or rekindles someones memory. Discovering an ample amount of previously undocumented dealerships and clarifying the existing information creates a need for the club's dealership book to be revised sooner than later.

i had a interesting find the other day. i say a J B Kidd motors key holder at a local flea market the other day and remembered he was a local hudson dealer back in the thirtys. it was the only thing in the darn flea market that wasn't for sale! it was after Mr Kidd stopped selling hudsons and went to gmc trucks around 1941. it also gave me a idea and i looked in the phone book and found a current J B Kidd so i gave him a call, and come to find out it was his son! i talked to him for about 30 mins and he gave me some new info about his dads dealership. i asked him if he had any pictures of the dealership when it was going. he said his family used to have a lot of pictures but looks like they were all unaccounted for as of now. what a shame! he said he wishes he still had them too. notice the number on the gmc truck holder is the same one listed on both of his hudson dealership locations they were apparently 1935 to 1937 and 1937 to 1940 and he was afilliated with the Kidd freeman one in the early fifties as well.

    I thought in 1942 it was a model 20 T not 10 T ?
  • hudsontech

1942 models all started with the number 20 - thus it would be a 20T

10 year old Hudson for $325 in 1952- Interesting, I'd have thought it would be much cheaper- When I was a kid in the '60's, we routinely paid only a couple hundred bucks for a 10 year old car. I bought a very good '57 Pontiac 2 door hardtop in 1967 for $150 off a dealer lot.
