54 hornet with Straight Eight ?

I know the 254 8-cyl was not put in the 54 Hudson body ,having been discontiued in 52. But does anyone know why it could not be done?

No reason at all why it couldn't be done. I'm sure SOMEONE has done it in the past. Then again, it wouldn't exactly be a Hornet without that big 6. You'll never get as much power out of the 8 as you would from the 308, but you could certainly make it smoother.
