1954 with 254 8-cyl motor?
Anyone know if some one has ever tried this ? I realise they never came that way but were there things changed that would make it hard to do? I allway's liked the way that motor ran. And I have a 54 that needs a motor- so - I just been thinking.
I have an eight that could be fixed and put in it ?

The underpinnings of a 54 are the same as earlier stepdowns, so fitting an 8 should present no problems.0

Basically all you would have to do would extend is the exhaust pipe to the front of the motor. Otherwise everything else should fit right there. It must be a Step-down 8 though, as it has a special sump to fit over the suspension.0

You'll have to rotate the radiator brackets 180 deg to move it 2 inches forward as the 254 block is exactly that much longer than the 60

To move the radiator forward you may have to do some cutting on the filler panel between radiator and grille top. The earlier stepdowns had two different filler panels ... one for the sixes, one for the eights.0
