FYI
Co-incidently, you may be in luck, I just read a note on installing Stepdown Rack in my Hudson Files over the WKND looking for something else. I had saved the Info in case someday I would try it since I already Installed Power Rack & Pinions on my two Straight Axle '37 Hudson's primarily to see if it could be done and works Great!However,'37's dont really need Power but Stepdown's sure could...
I found the Info in the 'WTN' or the 'HUDSON Mechanic Rag Newsletter'. It says 'Use '95 Buick Park Ave Rack Assy with Arostar Inner Tie Rods. Areostar Rods are shorter & screw into the Buick Rack. Also suggested shorten steering arms so turn sharper.
Thats all I wrote from article thinking it would provide a start....
Personally not installed one yet but I seen at least three Stepdowns with Racks so can be done.0 -
I suggest that you contact Supersix Dave on the forum. He has installed it on his 49.
