Black & Roman Bronze were original colors; anyone

know of a 54 Hudson Super Wasp Hollywood with
these colors? We found these to be the original
colors as the paint was being removed. I would
like to consult with the owner of an "original" of
said colors in order to see the interior of it. Mine
is red and white inside now. Assuming I stick
with cream and lipstick red for repaint, I intend
to have matching colors inside, with the cream
portions being rolled and pleated (seats only).
Hopefully there will be one at the Natls!!!!!

In case you know what the colors were on the
inside for the black/bronze, please e-mail & post
THANKS!!!!!!!

  • Hi John,
The roman bronze was the Texas Tan (#27) in the paint chart.
  • Hi John:

Here is a great link to the PPG-Ditzler color combinations used by Hudson in 1954.

The Ebony Black over Roman Bronze was color combination code RO-180 and you should be able to find it located above the metal serial number plate on the passenger door jamb. For the Coronation Cream over Lipstick Red, the code is RO-185. Sorry I don't know the interior colors for the Black/Bronze combination.

  • John,--- I had an original 54 Hornet with the black over roman bronze color combination & 2 tone brown interior. However, I know of an all one color roman bronze 54 Hornet with a green interior. Go figure. Cliff Minard.
  • John, My 54 Hornet is Roman Bronze with Coronation Cream top. Never repainted. The Uph. is two tone brown. I think Hudson used what was handy in 54 or what was ordered. B.K.
