Does anyone remember what member was working on repopping stepdown rocker panels? Was it Ron Fellows? Any info on these?

Thanks.

  • Walt Mordenti here. In 1997 I bought left and right rocker panels FOR MY 53 HORNET COUPE THAT I WAS RESTORING, from a fellow in Vermont, that went under the name GREEN MOUNTAIN PARTS. Not listed today in the roster. Maybe some one in Vermont can help you out. They fitted perfect. He was located on RT. 22A. His phone was 802-948- 2086 Walt.
  • Thanks Walt!

    Dave-

Let me know what you find out. I did a bit of searching several years ago, and most Hudson folks in the know told me to "repair what I had". Hadn't heard of the fella that Walt mentioned.

I just recently blasted and straightened the set I have, but they need quite a lot of lead work to get them "right". I still wouldn't mind having a better set.

I think there was an outfit called Agape Auto parts making them but I heard they weren't right.

Yeah, me too. I repaired mine, and they are OK. But too would like a new set if available. I remember speaking to Ron Fellows said he was working on getting them repopped. I am gonna give the guy Walt listed a call and see what he says.

I think Green Mountain went out of business. I bought a set from them 15 yrs ago, and they were decent, but didn't have drip cups under doors. Also had to put my own clips on for trim
  • I have a few N.O.S. rockers - but only a couple. They would'nt be cheap. What do you need them to fit?

  • My info is that Green Mountain went out of business about 3 years ago. I think that Agape Auto parts were selling some green mountain parts but they did not fit exactly right '48-'53. The '54 rockers were ok, They sold for $99 if not mistaken. I have one of the '54 green mountain rockers for my 54 sedan. Hopefully it will go on next summer.
  • It was Ron Fellows. I followed up a few times, but never got any answers. As far as I know Green Mountain is out of business at least under that name. I used a set of their 1954 rockers which I made work. Since they are welded on it was doable. The earlier rockers I would think have to be more correct in order to bolt on properly. Hornut

Here is another case of bad mouthing the supplier I bought left and right from them, welded the door drip cups on and spot welded the stainless molding brackets on and was very happy with them. So I had to do a little work on them. They fitted perfect, just check my car out. Walt.
  • OK. Let me know what you find out.

A good point walt. It may not be common knowledge among the present Hudson restorers that, although the rockers for 48 through 53 have the same shape and are interchangeable..The Trim retainers are diferent between some years and models. So making the panels with out the retainers makes a lot of sense. For example the 48-49's are different between the Commodore and super due to the different stainless used on the two models. then add the 50 Models with the triangular cross section stainless...And it gets more muddled when you add the short wheel base cars.. As far as the other "attached" parts, They rarely are damaged or rusted out. making new parts and attching them would surely have added a lot to the cost of remanufacturing. I have learned that most replacement parts are just that.. replacement.. unless i can find a real NOS item, I can expect to do some adaptation. .. By the way, Thanks for the nice Bumper Guard!, dave
