What Stepdown trunk weatherstrip are you using?

Just wondering which one works best. Some seem to be too stiff and hold the trunk lid up above the body. Any suggestions?

Did you do a search on this? There was a discussion about this very thing a couple of months back.
  • Hey Russell,

Merry Christmas! Yes, I did do a search. I only found the one and that was more geared to dealing with the K-Gap one.

I have KGAP rubber on my 52 HORNET 4dr and it closes like new. The rubber was installed before I bought the car a couple of months ago.

I used the K-Gap seal on the trunk lid of my '54 Hornet coupe and used 3-M weatherstripping adhesive to hold it. The '54 is mounted on the trunk lid not on the body like earlier models so I used clothes pins to hold everything in place until the adhesive set up. DO NOT get the adhesive on the paint!!!!!!

  • After I had my Pacemaker painted thirty years ago, I installed new trunk rubber seal, but I honestly don't now remember where I bought it. It could very well have been K-Gap. It is a soft, pliable seal and allows the lid to sit right down where it belongs.
