Hi Richs,

Maybe this will help. This chart will also help others with different engines.

  • Chaz, do you know if they show and dimensions for the later model engines (i.e. LT1, LS1, Hemi 5.7, etc.)?

    Hi Jay,

Here are two places to find the dimensions.

hotrodlane article says that the LT1 is the same as the early blocks. Check it out. Paceparts is for LS1 dimensions.

Hope these all help. Maybe we should put these web addresses in our "favorites" lists or make copies for our records. I am going to earmark them for myself. BTW, I have an LS1 thats going in my stepdown.

    Peace,

Another thing you can use, possibly rent, buy, or borrow is a dummy block or engine mock up.

They can be a little spendy (175+) to buy but are nice to have around and beat using an engine hoist over and over and over and ... well you get the picture!

I fit both my engine and trans at the same time so I did just that - put the motor/trans assembly in and took it out...and put the motor/trans assembly in and took it out... probably 20-30x to make sure everything was fitting correctly with the mods I had to make.

Like Chaz says "measure twice (or 20x :D ), cut once" that's priceless advice for fabrication no matter what it is!
