Just a few pictures of our NRMA Motorfest which is held in Sydney every 26th January

The forcast for the day was 33 deg in the city reaching a very hot 42 deg cel out west. As a few of our members live out west and they leave home at 5.00am to be in the city by 7.00 am the lights on the Essex cars are non existent, and then to drive home in 42 heat, they all decided to come in their Ramblers. This is a great day, we are not allowed to leave the city until 5.oo am, so a very long hot day.We were also asked this year to reduce our numbers as they were expecting over 1000 cars, which we did. I have been to this show for the last 25 years and find it great. The '42 did not make it this year as when I backed out of the garage there was a trail of fuel following me, the fuel bowl gasket had sprung a leak and as time was important to arrive there by our special time, we decided to also take the Rambler. The photo shows a '42 coupe it is actually a 1946.parked outside Hudson House.

  • If it's a 46, how come it has the 47 center upper grille Hudson emblem? 46 had only one step and 47 had 2 steps. Walt.
  • Sometimes the Hudsons shipped overseas were badged a little different from what appeared on the showrooms in the USA. Saw a few different ones in 2004 in Sidney. Nice car, thanks for showing and it does get hot in Jan, saw the guy in shorts and Tshirt. We're 29 F mornings and gets to 50 F by 2:30 PM. Thanks, Bob P

    G'Day Walt,

you are dead right, it is a '46 with a '47 nose cone, I at one stage had a fully imported '47 I was going to restore, it had been through a fire ,started buying parts for it on ebay, then my '42 came up for sale from Hal Waddell and the '47 Commodore 8 got the chop.
