Im rebuilding what I think Is a 308 block, but I put in the valves today and none of them are completely closed. Is there a point in the stroke that every valve is slightly open?

Ken, good to see you in here. Stop by more often, your experience and advice is valuable.
  • The only valves that will be closed is the cylinder that is about to fire. Firing order, 1-5-3-6-2-4
Turn engine clockwise slowly and watch the second valve from front, when you see it open and start to close, watch the first piston and when it reaches the top, you are on number one ready to fire. Both valves should be closed. Valve arrangement is as follow, int-intake-exh-exhaust
    exh-int-exh-int-int exh-exh-int-int-exh-int-exh Walt.
