Valve Lapping

All,
I checked the 262's compression in anticipation of the new cylinder head and found some low readings that did not respond to a wet test. I will can pull the RF wheel for easier access, but will I have to remove my intake and exhaust in order to lapp valves in my 52 Wasp?
R/ Roger.

Take the right front wheel off, make sure you put a jack stand under the frame. then remove the inner fender panel, unhook the headlight and signal wire before you remove the panel, then remove the valve covers and you are set to go. You do not have to remove the manifolds, unless you want to install new gaskets. If you have my tech tip books, go to volume one, open page 32 and read the story, then open page 17 and read my article on installing headgaskets. Do as I say and no problems later. My headgasket has been on my engine 134,000 miles. Set valves cold intake 14 and exhaust 17, using new feeler gauges. Todays gas burns really hot and valve must have time to cool when seated. Heat is transfered from valve to valve seat. Walt.0
