Just saw today an article with a Hudson Hornet in it under the heading "Dead but not Forgotten 10 discontinued car models we wish were still alive and kicking" or inotherwords cars they wished were still being produced.

Neat to see the old timers included in that article. I had a '68 International Travelall, albeit with the 304. Irregardless it hauled a 17 foot travel trailer we had in the 1970's from Maine to Disney World in Florida and back with no trouble - including a climb over the mountain at Fancy Gap, NC. (Coming down the other side into Virginia was a nerve wracking hoot.)

Fortunately, I.H. is still with us but the parent co. name is now Navistar. They just haven't built anything smaller than 1 1/2 tons since 1980. Too bad, we used to say an International could climb a phone pole if you could get both rear wheels on it! LOL And that's just about the truth!0

I worked for the state highway dept. the summer of 1968. They had a fleet of dark green Travelalls, and every one of them had a front end shimmy. It would come in at about 25 MPH, and you had to slow down 'til it stopped, then speed up and try to get up to speed without the shimmy. Sometimes took 2 or 3 tries.
Needless to say, I didn't have a high opinion of them. They were only 4 years old, or so. Seems like they would have fixed them-0 -
I had an IH (1959 American LaFrance Pumper on a IH frame) for about five years. It was a great ride!!! The only decent parade vehicle that I have ever had. It was fun to drive and everyone loved it. But, it too went to another home.....

My Grandpa had several Scouts when I was little and I have very fond memories riding in it on our camping and 4-wheeling trips. Never missed a beat and when wherever we wanted.
Then there was my neighbor, whose Scout was the biggest rattle-box I've ever seen manage to stay together on the road. You could hear it rattle around blocks away. Of course, he wasn't the stickler for maintenance my Grandpa was.0
