Ignition upgrades

I don't believe this particular topic has been overdone, so here goes. I am in the midst of a complete resto on a 53 Hornet. In addition to swapping to Pertronix 12V pointless ignition, I was considering the value of a rev-limiter/ msd box. Anyone have experience with an MSD or mallory ignition in a Hudson? Does it offer any value in fuel efficiency or performance?

On this same note, anyone ever run crank fire ignition like Ford EDIS with Megajolt controller or the like? Coil packs or a COP setup? if running 12V that is.
