Steering wheel puller?

Does anyone have a Hudson steering wheel puller they can loan or even sell me?

Ken Cates was gracious enough to send me pics of a a super Hudson steering wheel puller in case I wished to make one, but it was quite elaborate, to say the least. Even pictures of a home-made job might help.

If someone has a loaner, I only need it for five minutes, and will pay for the rental and the shipping, of course.

  • Hi Russel,
Here is a steering wheel puller I made to pull steering wheels off of pacemakers, I don't know for sure if it will work on hornet wheels. You are welcome to borrow it. Rob
  • I don't normaly loan stuff out but I do have the Hudson tool for that. I believe it is a Kent Moore tool. The one I have is for the 41-47 cars but will fit the newer ones. I'll make a photo of it if you want to see it .

  • Hello Russel, Sorry for the delay in posting these. This is the real thing ,J-739 Steering wheel puller. The only adapter I have is the one you see there and its for pre-stepdowns. But I use it stepdown wheels too.

  • Hi Roger,
I,m glad you posted those pics of your steering wheel puller. It looks like a C-clamp could be adapted into a puller like that. I never would have thought of that if I hadn't seen your pics. Thanks for posting. Rob

I need to remove my steeing wheel on a 1947 Hudson.

  • I have one as seen in photos above , am very protective of it. Where are you located?

  • Russel (or anyone else),

I purchased an early 1950's Snap On Tools universal (looks pretty much like the Kent Moore one pictured here by Roger) wheel puller kit on eBay some years back for around $50.00. I used it on my '50 Pacemaker to replace the cracked steering wheel with a non cracked one I also found on eBay. These Snap On wheel puller kits seem to come up every so often on eBay so you may wish to check it out.
