Radial Tire Pressure

What would be the proper tire pressure for 215/75R-15 radial tires used on a 48 Commodore,it has to be higher than the 24 used in the old bias?

On the side wall you will find the max pressure for the tire you have. Inflate 10 pounds less when cold. My tires say max 44 lbs, and cold, I set 36 lbs. Got 70 thousand on the first set, and am up to 60 on the set on the car now and still look new. If you are looking for a soft ride, inflate 15 lbs less, but shorten the life of the tire. Walt

I would be guided by the tyre inflation plate on a modern vehicle fitted with those radials. For instance our modern (a Holden Commodore) uses 215/65R-15 radials, is around the same weight as a stepdown and its inflation plate calls for 35psi cold. So that's what I use in the 205/75R-15 radials on our '53

It seems most of the mfr's recommend something in the low thirties. On my Hornet I use 35 front, 33 rear, because of the weight distribution. On the '47 Commodore sedan, which has almost exactly 50-50 weight distribution (how'd they do that?), I use 33 and 33.

I contacted Coker with the same question and they specify 35 psi cold. We drive a '54 Hornet 4 dr sedan.
