Exhaust manifold leak?
After installing a rebuilt carburetor, new timing chain, new spark plugs and wires, and a Petronix electronic ignition, I still have a sputter coming out the tailpipe. The compression checks out to 100 lbs per cylinder and according to the vacuum readings the car is timed correctly. The only thing I can figure is the manifold gasket is leaking and causing the sputter. The car runs well except for the sputter (which as you can tell is driving me crazy). HELP!!!

Time your car with a timing light. Mark and time to the long mark on the flywheel to the pointer on the rear motor plate. Did you check your valve settings? Spray a light coat of brake kleen along the manifold gasket, if a leak the engine will want to stall. Walt.0

Thanks Walt. BTW, the carburetor looks and works great. I'm not real comfortable with trying to adjust the valves. Have you ever thought about recording videos of some of your tips for dummies like me? You would probably make a killing.
