Howdy! my brother and i just picked up a '51 Commodore Six club coupe.for those of you plugged into the Hudson grapevine,it's the one that was for sale in Gilroy CA,so quit calling the poor guy already!.you guys wouldn't want it anyway,it had a '53 Olds 303 swapped in circa 1955,talk about your early nascar sleeper grin.gif it has a locking gas cap,but no key,so does anybody know how to remove the filler neck without major surgery? if all else fails i'm gonna have at it with the ol' jumbo channel-locks.thanks in advance-george

I think I would saw the neck off from inside the trunk, get the cap off, then "splice" the neck (or a replacement one if the cap wouldn't come off) back on with a short length of gas hose of the right diameter. I've done this with an older model. Note that to get the cut off neck out, you'll have to remove the 5" length of small hose from the vent pipe, which goes from the neck back into the tank. Visible from underneath.
