rubber grommets

Finally figured out how these go in, and where. In the pic where the top grommet is, what is inside that hole. On the other side that you cannot see is a nut, then a grease fitting. The nut is fastened to the threaded end of that u-shaped bar.
What keeps the u-shaped bar in that hole from travelling up or down. The Grommet that you can see? The hole in the frame is larger than the threaded end of the u-shaped bar. Is there another grommet in there, or is it the nut on the other side that keeps the bar from travelling in the hole.

Too much knowledge is a dangerous thing!!!!

  • The frame has a round piece that is welded into the frame. The U piece goes into the frame round piece and from the other side a special threaded piece starts to screw in, and makes it's own threads in the frame piece and screws to the U bolt. The rubber round pieces go on the U piece before you install, called dirt shields. Must be set in correctly or you will push the end out of the screw in piece. Need a 1/2inch spacer to set correctly.. Right side is right hand thread, but left side is left and right hand thread. Walt

As Walt said, the left side has a l&R thread. The left hand thread is the lower[leaf spring end]and is screwed into metal leaf spr.eye. The bushings shown are for the front eyes of the leaf springs. The special pin that goes thru the front spring eye has a round headed, serrated seat it pulls into from the inside of the frt. rear leaf spring box. I think the inside nut for this special bolt is 15/16th's, and usually has the hanger for the emergency brake cable under it. Hope this helps,CG

PS, do you have the Hudson mech.procedures manual?.
