Seriously, what are people thinking?

I am as guilty as some on overbidding, but this seems a little silly...

I usually figure $25-35 for a decent carb core.

I guess they wanted them pretty bad!:woohoo:0

Looked at the bid count and there were nine people bidding on them. Three bidders were above $200. It seemed a fair fight with the highest bidder winning. This is one of the things that makes ebay fun.....0

See, I am always looking for a deal. If the bidding goes over what the average market is selling it for, I move on. You'll usually find many other items of similar quality elsewhere.0

What usually happens is 2 or 3 people get into a cat fight - "I'm not going to let HIM outbid me!!!!" And the price goes up.
One of the best ebay "overbidding" auctions I've ever seen (other than the Russian submarine that was up for bid a while back) was a fight over a Pepsi Cola ad circa 1947 - one of the first pepsi color ads, if I remember correctly.
2 people got into a bidding war and the item finally went to a lady who wanted it badly. There was a picture of a truck in the ad and the name on the door was her grand-fathers company. I knew the seller - fair minded man. I guess she told him why she had bid up to $120 or so for this ad - after she provided proof that it was indeed her grandfather's company logo on the truck he let her have the ad for her original bid of around $10.
There are some nice sellers on ebay.

Heck - I oughta dust off my ebay account..I have a box full of WA1 carb parts, 2 twinh manifolds, some twinh linkage and 1 exhaust manifold I'd sell for less than that.
The car I was going to use them on is long gone.0 -
Why is it when I sell something on e-bay it goes for half off?!?!
haha0 -
Buyers be ware, these carbs may not have the correct parts inside or missing parts. Walt.0

what about that twin-h setup plus aluminum head that sold for $800, seems steep to me that head could be garage art if it has been planed too much. The carbs could have wrong parts and there was no exhaust manifold or linkage.0
