HELP...

I picked up a 6737 Fuel Pump from the local auto parts store and began the install
procedure... Re did the intake and output lines and went to install the pump..

Here is the problem when I went to install it it doesnt line up with the holes in the block...It appears that I currently have the cam lobe in the UP position and and therefore should have plenty of room to slide the pump arm in and align with the holes...I'm way low.....

If I rotate the cam to have the lobe in the down position I don't think I will even be able to install the pump arm under it.

What am I doing wrong.......If anyone else has installed the 6737 pump was it this much of a problem????

THANKS

Here are some thoughts on installing the AMC pump.

    1. The pump should be installed with the inlet/outlet facing down as per the picture.

    2. The pump should be installed with the orginal spacer. Added spacers may be needed. They were on my '49 about 1/8".

    3. If I remember correctly, the pump level is some what depressed when installing the pump, so you need to push the pump up in to position against the pump spring tension.
