Thanks guys , I just picked one up - just had to take it off the engine!
It looks to me like you could take the old ring gear off and turn it around if you could machine the gear angle into the unused side.0 -
You. Can only install the ring gear one way. It has to go on the flywheel from the clutch side as it has a bevel that keeps it on as the starter engages from the clutch side. If you try to install from the front side, the starter will push it off and now you have trouble. You have to apply a little heat and with a block of woos hammer it on. Do not over heat or the starter will spin it around the flywheel. Bad news. Walt.0
