Hi All,

Just came back from dropping off some interior chrome to Pomona Upholstery (and paying--ouch). Here are a few pics. The correct stipped material is what I bought from SMS in OR. Should be done in a couple more days.

P.S. Pedro told me that I have enough stripped material to do another car.... If your interested, I 'll sell you stripped material at much less than you can buy it!

Your pictures bring back memories. When I was a kid, my father bought a used 1951 Commodore 8 in what I have since learned was Texas Tan. The interor was done just like your car's in the same colors. That car got me interested in Hudsons and I've been hooked since.

My father was fifty-four when I was born so his memories started back in the ninteenth century. He learned to drive on a tractor and all his life he drove a manual transmission as though there was no throttle adjustment and speed was varied by slipping the clutch. Before the Hudson, he had a Studebaker and the thing I remember about that was Dad setting the throttle at full roar all the time. When we got the Commodore, with its automatic tranny, he had to learn to drive differently. I still remember the first time I rode in the Hudson, sitting in the center if the back seat, and when my father started off, I thought he had stalled the engine because it made no roaring sound. But, surprise, the car moved anyway.

Thank you for sharing. It gets me very excited for my own project. My 52 Hornet is currently in the capable hands of Dr. Doug (Wildrick Restoration) who is working on the interior and mechanical tuneup and Russell Chilton (Russell and Vicki's '52 Hudson Hornet Convertible Restoration) is working on my woodgraining. Mine should looks remarkably similar to yours when it is done, but blue.

Coincidently, that was the original color. Not my favorite Hudson color scheme.

Great looking interior, you should be proud. who did the wood grain? Does it look as nice in person as it does in the photo?

Thanks. It was done by Nick Alexander Restorations in Los Angeles. Amazing depth and detail. Cost was around $1,800 or so.

On my next project, I want to try the new technology: water ink transfer. Check out the link below. The options are endless. Not sure what the difference in price would be....

Do you still have the extra fabric? I am working on a 51 Commodore 8 and I think the striped fabric is the correct color for it. Also, where did you get the vinyl to replace the Durafab?

The '51 pattern is slightly different than the '52; but SMS has/had it in stock a bit back. Walt-LA

I used water transfer wood grainer and attached pictures were the results although
not original; I am happy with final product.

Sold the extra material to another forum member. You can call "Pedro" at Pomona Upholstery in Pomona, Ca and I'm sure he'll tell you the brown Vinyl he uses.
