FOR SALE 1950 Hudson Commodore Six 4 door sedan

well everyone,

I finally have decided that I am going to pursue other interests. Therefore, I am offering my hudson up for sale. I have not had time to work on it, and honestly, my interest has been lacking for some time. I really want to get the boxes of parts out of my storage, and get the car out of my driveway.

Here is a basic description of the car....

1950 Hudson Commodore Six 4 door sedan.

78,000 original miles
6 cylinder
twin H power
3 speed overdrive
4:11 rear
Oriental Green metallic

Hudson has original 1950 engine, but it is not the correct numbers matching engine for the car. I can inform the interested party who wishes to acquire the original numbers matching engine as to the location, but I can make no guarantee of the availability of the engine, or if it will be parted with.

Car has been in my possession since 1991. I restored the car in amateur fashion in 1991-1993, and drove it on occassion for some time. I then put it in storage for ten years, and got it out. I have not been able to properly secure storage for the car. It has been weathered, exterior, so it needs paintwork, and some body work. The car will start, and before I pass it on to an interested party, it will move under it's own power. Car was converted to a 1983 AMC fuel pump, and twin H around 2005. gas tank droped and flushed, and sealed 2005. I swapped the overdrive transmission back in the car, and have been unable to get the overdrive working. It is an electrical issue, that I cannot figure out. New Dr. Doug clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, bellhousing, zero miles. The brakes are up and working, and I will have 4 newer radials on the car, with tubes all around. Part of the car is in primer. It will also have a new 6 volt battery.

I started to do some bodywork, but time and interest are not there. I have many NOS parts that go with the car, and have a list of items needed to work thru the restoration...

NOS doorhandles, 2 sets
NOS fender triangles 1 set
NOS fender rockets 1 set
NOS "Commodore six" fender plates 1 set
NOS porkchops in wrappers 1 set
NOS hood ornament 1
NOS lower grille bars 2 sets (need plated)
NOS hood bars 1 set
NOS hood center 1
NOS bumper guards 5 of the 8
NOS lower bumper strut 1
NOS trunk spear 1
NOS rear bumper (core for plating, but nice)

Rechromed
Headlight rings 1 set
hood ornament 1
fender triangles 1 set
trunk spear 1

Original but nice
trunk handle assembly (very nice)
several taillight assemblies some NOS, but need a set plated
all side trim, and several sets of rocker trim, including the wide strip
all window trim

new hard parts
2 kingpin sets
left and right tie rods
brake rebuild kits (4)
master cylinder kit (1)
NOS Aluminum head (machined only to clean up, ready for install)

KGAP
door weather seal
trunk weather seal
door "s"'s
long wide door seals
taillight gaskets
trunk gasket
front and rear red Hudson emblems

Mechanical Hard parts
2 barrel manifold
standard trans
2 driveshafts
1 supermatic drive assembly (I think complete)
multiple other parts

that's all I can think of now, but I know I got everything for the car, in some shape or other, many spares.

The car is straight, and rust free. Solid perimeter frame. Only issues I have ever seen, is a small line in the driver floor, along the lower seam of the floor pan. about 4 inches long, and on the bend. I would recommend a hood, but the hood on the car could easily be fixed. I have been looking for a hood, but this one needs a little welding at the lip, where the bars are attanched, it is all there, and straight, so might want to keep the hood on the car.

I would offer that someone would want to get the wiindshield gaskets, and rear window seal, replace them, headliner, carpet. Seats are original, and covered since I got it. The material underneath appears to be there, but I am not sure how nice. Door panels would be good for patterns, they are there, but need redone. two cracked windows.

As far as price, I am offering this at $6000 negotiable, for all the parts, and the car running and under it's own power. I can deliver 100 miles from 17522, for $1.00 a mile. Will work with anyone interested. I have no current pictures of the car, but if you wish to see it, I will be able to get it to Fall Hershey, and if you are serious, I can transfer it at that point to you. I would not try to drive the car a great distance.

Clear PA title, in my name, in my hand.

***edit***

also remembered a few extra things...
NOS grille struts
NOS grille V's (4 pieces)
Pair of new PAULARGETYPE mirrors in boxes
good used antenna exterior chrome piece
2 steering wheels/green 1 is perfect, 1 has a few scratches/gouges
spare dash chrome
NOS dash ends chrome (glovebox and guages)
several sets of hubcaps
1 set of 1954 hubcaps (pretty decent)
spare set of center stainless grille bars (2 bars)
2nd set of twin H aircleaners (paper element type, need work)

the engine in the car was from a low mileage 1950 hudson that we cut up. It was around 40,000-50,000 miles, when we rebuilt it. The other engine had a tight spot, but we did get it free up. Like i said, no guarantee on the other engine, I can tell you where it is.

The car is complete, all bumpers, trim, etc... all there.

as far as parts, I do not wish to sell the parts seperate. They need to go with the car. I am sure, over time, I got that much in parts alone, but several reasons, number one being interest is why I have decided to sell this. I just want it to find a good home where someone can devote the time and effort to bring it back to it's prior glory.

thanks again!
Rick

Sounds like a damn good price to me. I am rounding 3rd on a resto of my '50C6 sedan and I am north of $20K!
  • Well, it appears I got two interested people in the car. Hopefully somewhere around or after Hershey, this will be passed along to someone that has more interest in it than I do. I believe my second interested party is definite, if the first person passes. It will at least remain relatively close, either way, so that is good. I thank you all for the years on the board here, and all the help you all have been. Take care, who knows, maybe I will down the road end up with another hudson. It has been fun!

    Best!
