CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT

I need to adjust the clutch in my Step Down (3 speed with OD)..It seems to be engaging to soon and I am getting some peddle chatter when I start out.

Which way do I turn the adjusting yoke to accomplish this..

    Yes but it isn't clear on the yoke adjustment

    General case. Crawl under the car. Reach up and pull the clutch pedal.

    If it's pushing the linkage, shorten it so it doesn't push so quick.

    If it's pulling, lengthen it so it doesn't pull so quick.

    as I recall in both the owners & shop manuals it gives you & has an illustration, when you do as Uncle Josh suggested, the amount of distance from the floorboard to the arm of the clutch pedal, let's say 1 1/2", that you should have. If you have neither of those books, get them.
    There could be other issues: how long has it been since amount of clutch fluid checked? Did you have the clutch installed - if not, drain the clutch & see if you get 6 oz. out (I always drain into a measuring cup to see if too much or too little). I've done this & gotten from NOTHING come out to having several times as much as should be in it ergo clutch slips.
    If change fluid make SURE you get a good quality fluid as replacement!
    A good clutch, properly installed, will last for an indeterminant time IF done right & serviced as required. I've heard some people are "gun shy" of Hudsons due to the wet clutch but there is no reason for that - only incompetence will cause a problem, not the basic design.
