KGap name hijacked?

I just received an email under KGap's name. I don't believe KGap has expanded into the "male enhancement" business.

i thought they carried ruber products?:woohoo: :woohoo:

alot of people are getting hacked,,,i got one from a guy i do business with in Cali.offring male enhancement,,over 200 people in his contacts got e-mails from some junk e-mail address close to his.
  • I received it also, but my virus protection blocked me from opening it, saying it was a 'dangerous' web site. If you get a KGAP e-mail I don't believe I would open it.

Good advice all. I got the Kgap one and also one from a fellow HET member, both today. The latter was infected with something and I had to use Norton's industrial strength sweeper to get rid of it. Hopefully no hidden damage remains.
  • I got the e-mail also. Deleted it. As a rule of thumb, I never open an e-mail that is a link only. Nearly always spam.

I also got a couple of suspicious e-mails from a fellow HET'er in the last couple days (which he says he didn't send).

I'm wondering if somehow, someone has hacked into either the HET or Classiccar registry and stolen the e-mail addresses? This might explain why the compromised addresses happen to belong to Hudson folks.

Has anyone received mystery e-mail with a link that partially reads:

    jetpacksandrollerskates
    or
    eliterunning
    ?
  • The KGap email made it to Alabama, yes, rubber products we expected, not the other products. Will forward to anyone needing to try expansion techniques, sorry trying to make some humor. Thanks for sending out all this info about our problems on the forum to keep the rest of us informed. Thanks

Scott, nice job on the 36. I get Vintage Truck. I have your truck in the HET registry but no Serial No. Send it to HETcramerlp@roadrunner.com and I'll include it.

Larry, Scott's truck used to reside in Richfield Springs. Note the lettering on the doors in the following picture.

    They've gotten to England.
I've had one from K Gap and several from Hudson57. One of the latter drove my Norton crazy for a couple of minutes.

Unfortunately, once the worm/virus gets the e-mail list it can continue to send the e-mails to people, spoofing the identity of the person the e-mail list came from. Even if you remove the problem from the original computer, the list was most likely already shared, and the e-mails to continue.

My advice to friends an family is the following (just Google the name to find them):

    Microsoft Security Essentials (Anti-Virus)
    - It is free
    - It is highly effective and well recommended
    - It tends to be 'lighter', meaning it slows down old systems less
    - Keeps itself up to date

If your computer is acting funky or slower than it use to be:
    - Spybot Search & Destroy (free)
    - CCleaner (free)
    - Defraggler (free)
    - Upgrade your memory (RAM). Memory finder tool http://www.newegg.com/MemoryFinder/

If you accidentally deleted an important file:
    - Recuva (free)

Most important tip: BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT FILES. There are many, many different options for this. Here is a good article that discusses some options. http://lifehacker.com/5816453/how-to-back-up-your-computer
  • Yeah I got Three, this morning. Never opened them. Paul, No problem, like was said. Ship Happens. Hope I'll see You in Pigeon Forge!

Paul, again I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but you still have computer problems. I have opened my emails this Monday morning, down under time, and there are 3 more spam emails via your AOL address. Unfortunately I know nothing of viruses and their cures so I can't help you to get on top of the problem.
  • When I got home from church around 9pm. I had 4 from paul with NO SUBJECT so I deleted them. Sorry Paul.

One K-gap rcvd here in Memphis - that's all. Most of the past week my 'puter was in hospital having some problems resolved.

Briefly if you decide to either delete (don't - move them to a portable drive like a flash drive or external drive)files be careful. I went one file to far and couldn't open my computer. I'd dmoved a needed boot up file. Couldn't even move it back to the hard drive because I couldn't get to it. Oh well.
