Nash starter woes

I'm going to try this forum since I'm not getting any help on the Nash forum. I put what I believe is a 51 nash motor in my 50 Nash. The problem I have is the flywheel is different than the one on the engine I pulled out. The ring gear on the one I pulled is pretty much flush with the front whereas the one I put in has the ring gear a 1/2" farther back and now the starter won't work because of the difference. Can't switch flywheels because the one I pulled has 5/8 screws and the one I put in has 3/8 studs on the crank. I'd put in another starter or another solenoid if I knew what to get . Help! By the way, I have a 41 hudson. Received a lot of great information here. Thanks, Jim

  • Ken u Tex, It's a statesman with manual trans. starter no. mch 6111. Hope that helps. Jim Phone no. [716] 826-7087
  • I was wondering why I have to pull the engine to get the starter in and out weareas the manual says easy pull . Thank you very much for the info. Now I know what to look for. Jim
  • Thanks for the info on the starter on e-bay but I'm going to Hersey next week and I'm going to try and pick up one in a little better shape. This one is sold as is untested . It only takes a couple of minutes to check it so I'm not going to bother. Anybody have a good delco remy 1109463 for sale? Jim
  • If anybody is goining to Hersey that has a Delco Remy starter 1109463 in good condition for a Nash, let me know your lot area and I'll look you up for a purchase. Also need a radiator. 6 cyl., one that's been checked. {Mine looks good but it's shot] Thanks, Jim
