Still in need of the gasket for my '54 Hornet0 -

Thanks, I'll give them a try0

Does anyone know if KGAP watches this forum? Seems like it would be a good source of sales for them. They show a windshield gasket for my car and a reasonable price. I ordered it and paid via paypal, so we shall see.0

I've been trying to order a windshield gasket from KGAP for my '46 pickup. Was going to order on internet until I got to the final tally, and I was getting hit-up for $20.00 shipping, and I'm in San Jose only 400 miles from L.A. These gaskets could be shipped in a 'priority' box for about $6.00. I've been trying to call them because there must be a mistake in shipping costs, either that, or their scamming their customer's with a 'handeling' fee as another profit center.0

i've been told that K-gap has flaked out! taken months to ship 'cause they can't get the products,i'm not sure if this is true?
but it's been going around for awhile.& a lot of guys still waiting on parts.0 -
Hello,
I would hesitate to recommend K-GAP to anyone, as there seem to be some serious problems with the business. I am sure that some will reply that they recently ordered from K-GAP, and got their parts right away. I wish they would advise what secret password or high sign they used to get good service.
I have been waiting for two items - running board covers for a '46 pickup and a shift knob - for two years now (since September 2009). Let me correct that - I have given up on ever receiving the items, or a refund. I have spoken to K-GAP by phone (back when I was able to get through by phone), left a voicemail message, and sent e-mails - to no avail. The last e-mail response I received, on June 6, 2011, said,
"Steve
Sorry for the delay in answering your email. We have had all kinds of computer issues here. It has been in the shop 7 times since March. Your running board mats and knobs will ship no later than June 20, 2011.
Thank you
Kaylene
KGAP"
After I hadn't received the parts or any other communication by July 25, 2011, I requested a refund of $340.50 for those parts if not received by August 1, 2011. I have not received any other communications, or parts, or a refund.
I will say that I was happy with the parts I did receive, and even had no problem overlooking the long delays in getting those parts, but there comes a point when enough is enough.
I guess that is my long-winded way of saying "caveat emptor".
Take care,
Steve Bryson0 -
I inquired as to whether the gasket I needed was in stock. I received a reply that the gasket was indeed in stock. So, I went ahead and ordered it. I have received confirmation of my order and payment. So, stay tuned and we'll see how fast the part is shipped.
We as a club NEED KGAP to succeed. Press, Wayne and Janet had us all spoiled.0 -

It is to bad that all the positive comment about K-Gap are ignored. When ever I talk to someone with comments like that, I encourage them to buy what they need from K-Gap regardless of what they have heard. Each one I have recommended K-Gap too, including the reluctant ones, after ordering from K-Gap have received their part in short order. Just two weeks ago Jairo Madina (a new HET member for less than a month) ordered new motor and trans mounts from K-Gap and was showing them to me three days after ordering. That is a true positive statement. That encourages me to continue recommending to everyone to K-Gap or any other supplier that has the parts need reguardless of what I hear about them.
I have always receive everything I have ordered from K-Gap as well as other suppliers. Most of the time I receive them quickly. The only long wait was a nine month wait for a new pair of door sills for my 47 Hudson PU. That was because K-Gap had just contracted with a company to manufacture them. I was told it would be some time before they were available. Since the only ones I could find were in bad to terrible shape, I said I will order a pair and wait. I didn't call at any time to see if they were ready or when they will be in. K-Gap called me when they came in. I receive the first pair and it was worth the wait. The most beautiful pair of door sills you would want to see.
Chopperchuck, all I can suggest to you is if you need a great part, give K-Gap a call. You will not be disappointed in the quality of K-Gap parts. Something to keep in mind is: not all, but many of the negative comments about K-Gap come from folks that have never bought anything from K-Gap.
There are other Hudson suppliers, I have heard, with similar problems that K-Gap experience but K-Gap is the only one getting the bad rap on the forum any time K-Gap is mentioned. They also supply good parts, and I wouldn't try to discourage anyone from buying from them either.
There are far more satified K-Gap customers then there are dissatified K-Gap customer. Even some dissatisfied customer have said that they will never buy from K-Gap again but have bought parts from K-Gap again. Why? They are the only game in town for many needed parts. If the negative comments persuade or discourage enough people from buying from K-Gap there may be no game in town. That would be a terrable lose to the whole H.E.T. CLUB and non HET'ers. There is an old saying, DO NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU.
I have no special SECRET way to order. I just pick up the phone and order. That has been my secret way of ordering. Give it a try.
Have a great day.

i order from press & company years ago.now i can't get a reply to emails or phone calls,i really do need parts.
i glad that you got your parts,i]Lee ODell[/ii really do wish they succeed in business as in the past..i will keep trying to get thru to them.---chuck0 -
I hope you get thru to them Chuck. I understand how important having the parts can be. As a former auto shop owner, parts delays would drive me crazy sometimes because I expected every job to be out the door same day if possible and no comebacks. So I can understand your frustration.
I've never tried emailing them. I've not alway gotten through by phone the first time either. I just try again later. I can't explain why some get through easier than others. All I know is that the reluctant customers that I have encourage to try K-Gap have become satified customers. Up till know, neither they nor I have experieced the problems that some others have.
I quess it bothers me that so many are not going to get the part they need because of their reluctance to give K-Gap or any supplier their business because of what they have heard. I do not beleive, criticism on the forum will get their parts any quicker. The forum has no leverage on suppliers. Only persistent contact with the supplier will get results, not the forum. Criticism on the forum of any distributor only caused potential customers to be reluctant to buy or never buy. That is a lose lose for both parties.
I hope their responce time improves for your sake. My personsl experience has seen an improvement. As I mentioned before there was one delay for me but that was not of their making. I will continue to encourage the reluctant and new HET'ers to try K-Gap. That can be a win win for both of them.
You know, sometime a little praise and some thank yous can work wonders. They usually get better results. Just a thought.
Have a good day.
