Rubber stapled to inner fenders

This may be a silly question, but what type of rubber have folks used for the edging rubber on the inner fenders? Anyone have patterns, how far below the skirt does the rubber extend? Also how do you replicate the staples? I know this seems minor but it would be nice to have an original appearance.

    Aaron,
I know there's vast difference from your car to a stepdown but what DrDoug suggested to was either stainless steel staples or stainless mig wire .035. Weld wire can probably be ordered in 2 lb roll. Don'tknow if Springs would give thier source for sheet rubber, but worth a try. Or try the vast source of knowledge.

Kim, actually this is my stepdown (51 HH 2dr Hardtop). I had thought of taking a stapler and trying to staple through the existing holes. It would be time consuming but may look ok. I was thinking of ordering from McMasters for the rubber, but wanted to ask to see if anyone has a good source. I would call Doug (he is on my speed dial), but since I have called him so much lately on engine stuff (he and Jeff Perkins did all the work on my engine internals), I try to pace myself. Doug is probably catching up from Hershey as well.

    Aaron,
Now that I knowit's a stepdown, I bought the rubber from K-gap. I opened the staple holes slightly with drill bit. Held the rubber in place long enough to get 2 stapled points attached. Push staples through and hold firmly and tap points down. I used a hard surface and also a body dolly to hold staples in place til I could tap points down on the other side. I used a small body hammer as well. It is time consuming and some of the pieces bolt to gether at the back corners. I used pictures of a 50 detailed ragtop I'd asked Dr. Maas send me. It was on Ebay earlier this year. I had all of the inner panels powder coated so bangin on em didn't do any damaged. I bought staples from my local building supply.
    Hope this helps,
    Kim
