Side Moulding Clips?

I'm getting my '49 Commodore ready to repaint and I've pulled off the lower door trim and rocker panel mouldings. Can anyone help me with part numbers for W&E or Auveco clips, or other means to remount them when I'm done?

Thanks,

  • K-Gap shows several trim retainers in their current catalog. I remember a few threads several years ago discussing GM(?) trim retainers that will work. Someone will chime in soon with a more complete answer.

    Mark:

I was the source of the GM side molding retainer post several years ago. I was refering to the plastic molding clips offered by GM which are serrated and can be broken to fit the trim width. Since that time Auveco has provided many more options to complet the task. I do not have specific part numbers, but using an accurate measuring device you can come up with the trim clip insert measurement which is in turn used to select the appropriate clip from the specifications provided.

I will personally recommend Dellis Hudson as a source of steel mounting clips custom made to match your requirements. I recently sent Dellis an order to remanufacture the retainers for my current stepdown project. The clips work perfectly. The clips were made to my specifications, reasonably priced and shipped safely several weeks after my order. You can contact Dellis @ 810-984-5844 or via snail mail at 3135 Simpson Road, ft. Gratiot MI 48059 Dellis is a longtime Hudson Club member too.
  • Don't get me started on K-Gap. They have had over $400 of my money for over 6 months for parts that haven't been shipped. No phone messages returned, no e-mails. It's like they dropped off the earth with my dough. One heck of a way to run a business. It's disrespectful and despicable.
