I've been using computers since 1993 and have only gotten one virus. In my limited ability to think, I'd say that was a pretty good average, especially in this day and age.
My policy is simple - if an attachment comes in and it ain't familiar, I don't open it. And I rarely open attachments anyway - only if I know the person and, like others, am expecting an email with attachment. All that said it is possible, as I understand it, for a hacker to attach your email addresses and send an email with your address, with attachment, to somebody (I think this is what happened when I got a virus in my last computer). One solution to that problem is to add an email address to the beginning of your email addresses as I did - AAAA@AAAA,com. From what I was told this stops automatic scans of your addresses because the program doing the scan can't get past AAAA@AAA.com and so moves on to someone else.
That's what I was led to understand. There have been a couple of times in recent times where emails have been sent from HET members computers that weren't from them. These emails would move from computer to computer - I think AAAA worked for me because I've never had anybody complain that I sent them an infected email.
But then what do I know. Well, I do know how to turn this monster on!!!!!!!!!

If you don't recognize the sender and the subject is blank or suggestive, x it.0

Computors pick up e mail addresses and send messages got them. That is why when you sendrop the an e mail address add 3 things to it before the correct address, such as xx or aaa and it fools the computer. Tell all your friends and we can lick this thing. Just make sure you tell the person to drop the first 3. Walt0

I too, also had an e-mail from "BABY". no subject, and I don't know anyone by that name real or not. As I do with any e-mail that has no subject, I deleted it. Same thing If I don't know the name I will NOT open an attachment.

thanks for all of the replys I did delete it, what worried me was she said she liked my prfile. I thought only memebers could get to those? maybe the over seer would know if that person is a member?

It could also be a more general message inviting to become member of an undefined website (linked in, or others...)?0

To the best of my recollection, no female has ever admired my profile. I'm not too wild about it, myself. But, always trying to be helpful, when someone suggests that I "get in shape", I remind them that round is a shape.
As far as harvesting emails is concerned, I guess the "drop the HET" thing works OK, but I just do it this way: mmittge at compprime dot com. Lets see the address harvesters snatch that one!0 -
Just because she said she liked your profile doesn't mean she actually saw it. She (providing it is a she) may have just been snowing you to get you to click on.
Flattery will get you everywhere.
