Getting caught up & a request!

Wow!! I haven't been on the forum in like a month or so . . . gonna take a while to get caught up on the threads.
Periodically, I have gotten on here to search for the ever elusive parts for the convertible, and have had some great successes in the past.
I am happy to say, that of the 10,000 parts that go into a step-down, we are now down to the last three, of which I have been searching for the last 5 years. Specifically, the inserts for the rear seat ashtrays. Not the ashtray itself, but the internal, 1/2-domed insert that actually has the cut-out to dip your ash into the round housing. Need both sides.
Also, need ivory-colored armrest for one door. Not the stainless, just the ivory plastic part.
And that's the end of my hunt. Yes, I know these are hard-to-find parts. Yes, I have been through all of the usual channels and then some. BUT, don't tell me that they are not out there (they are just not with the Usual Suspects).
We recently acquired original, NOS side mirrors for '52-'53. I've never even seen a set on a car, much less, in the original wrapping in a box. So, whatever YOUR parts quests are, I assure you, what you need is out there. Perseverance is a great virtue.
We have also scored (YES, SCORED!), accidentally, mind you, an original NOS engine that has no serial #'s, and has never been fired. Will post more about the engine escapades when I get the engine back from the machine shop, which is currently being baby-sat by Dr. Doug.
While the car is not 100% entirely un-used parts, it's just about as close as I ever even dreamed (or planned).
Still hope to make Gettysburg, but, as the car is supposed to go to the upholsterer by the end of March, I am fast running out of time, and we are not yet into paint. Time will tell, but I am yet refusing to face the music (or pay the fiddler).

Thanks for checking in Russell, glad that you are still making good progress. I think there are going to be some great Albright Award cars in Gettysburg.
