Main Bearings
Just a question concerning main bearings in various engines;
How many main bearings did the various Hudson engines have, including the 308, 262, 232, 212, 202, as well as the 254?
How about the early babbitt-bearing engines?
I know the Packard 8 had 9, and the Nash 6 had 7; how about some of the other competitors?
Happy New Year to everyone.:P

The Hudson 6-40 had 3 mains, the Super Sixes up to 1929 had four. Essex fours, sixes, Terraplanes and Hudson sixes up to 1947 all had 3. All straight 8's had 5, and all sixes from 1948 onward had 4. All engines including the 8's had bronze-back babbit mains until the Step down era, hence all bearings were steel backed shells apart from 8's.0
