My wife and I will have to fly to Gettysburg. What's the best airport to use there?

  • I like flying out of the Harrisburg International Airport. It is not nearly as crowded as Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Also, Harrisburg is only about 45 miles north of Gettysburg. BWI is about 61 miles south. Check out Harrisburg International Airport at www.flyhia.com

You can get to Harrisburg by plane, train or bus, but the big problem will be getting from Harrisburg to Gettysburg (unless you have a friend attending the National who can pick you up in his Hudson).

Although there are no regularly scheduled trains or buses to Gettysburg, there is a commuter bus that runs to and from Harrisburg in the morning and evening, but not on weekends.

"Rabbit Express" runs a commuter bus (#15N) between Harrisburg and Gettysburg, Monday thru Friday only. Busses run in both directions early in the morning, and mid- to late-afternoon. Information: 800-632-9063. The printed schedule for 15N is at http://www.rabbittransit.org/express/routes/15n_route.html . There are connections to the airport in Harrisburg but you'll have to do that research yourself!

I know of no other public transportation in and out of Gettysburg from any direction.
  • Thanks for the info
