QUestions
I have a couple of questions I need help with:
1. What is the brand and part number that I can use for a 1941 175 or 212 splasher engine thermostat? Or where can I get a nos or good used thermostat?
2. Does anyone have a water cooler (proper terminology?) good used or nos that they would like to sell, or where can I buy one for the 175 or 212?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

OK, I'll jump in here and ask for the clarification on "water cooler."
Do you mean the radiator, or the water pump or water manifold on the engine? Or is it one of the window-mounted evaporative air coolers you're asking about?0 -
I mean the sheet metal manifold which runs the length of the left side of the engine to return water to the water pump. mine is rusted in the neck area.0

You can call it water jacket, water manifold or same with coolant.
both engines are 6 cylinders I guess ?0 -
Yes, both engines are sixes.0

You dont say where you are ,there is someone I believe in Austrailia reproducing those in stainless. I've seen them here on the forum

Up until fairly recently I could find the "regular" thermostat for my '37 at my local auto parts place, and you still might be able to. The trick would be to take your old one to the parts house and compare it to the ones hanging from the display panel. Or, if you have a parts house where someone behind the counter actually has any brains, you could hand it to them and they might be able to come up with a replacement. Ebay is a good source as well.
First, do you have the regular or the by-pass thermostat?
The regular one will look like this:
This is the type I'd see at parts houses and they would fit many brands and years of cars. There were a couple of different types and the only difference was the diameter of the round plate. Check yours.
The bypass type will look like this:
these won't be as readily available at your parts house but I have found them at Hudson meets, street rod parts flea markets in the 99 cent box, and amongst Hudson parts vendors, so if you snoop around you'll find one.
Here's what I believe is a Hudson bypass type, now on Ebay, though I think it's a bit pricey: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harrison-Thermostat-3121276-153-deg-Hud-36-38-Super-6-8-39-42-/220946274425?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item33716c98790 -
Dave and Jon-
Thanks for the responses. Dave, I live in NW PA, about 40 miles south of Erie near I-19. Let me know your contact info and I will call you.
Jon-I don't know which of the thermostats should be used as neither engine has one in it. I do have a good parts store so I'll start there. I assume a 160 degree thermostat would be best?
Thanks.

NW PA. I was told that you are in Williamsfield, OH? Pretty close. Let me know how to contact you and I will come and get it.
