Our Unusually mild weather here in NW Pa. has me thinking Spring already motivating me to stop on my '37 St Rod project & start prepping the Racer (outside)...

Yep, beautiful in Pacific NW, too- temp into the 60's this weekend, just had to get the car out and go for a joyride.

But hold on a second, here- battery was giving me a little trouble last year, discharging between starts. Sure enough, this year I went to where it is stored on Saturday to put charger on, in anticipation of Sunday drive. Sunday morning, after overnight charge, got about 3 anemic revolutions, and dead again.

So off to get another battery. It had a 78 series (12 V) side post, which I thought was odd, on an old car- but got to checking, and there wasn't enough clearance under the radiator outlet for top post battery. Why? Another "unintended consequence" of the sectioning job, I guess. Car is 4 inches lower. So original radiator wouldn't fit. So Walker aluminum radiator installed, much lower than original, only 7 inches between battery pan and bottom of radiator outlet. Could have relocated the battery box, but I'm a strong advocate of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"! So side posts it is!

New battery, got 'er fired up and tore around for awhile, stopped and saw a "car guy" friend, only thing better would have been a convertible! :)
