Tried this last night and didnt post?? I heard yesterday that this 90+ eccentric old man that lives 10 miles from me died and they cleared the old buildings from his farmstead. They pulled 14 Hudsons from the sheds and crushed them. All the guy knew was they were all 4 doors. He didnt know the models or years. He originally said they were all stepdowns but later said that wasnt the case. I had stopped by last summer because there was a 52 Hornet with twin-H setting by the road fence. I could never get anyone to answer the door and not having the interest I used to have never went basck. I didnt know about the other cars until yesterday. It seems he always bought Hudsons through the years and never traded them in, just bought a new ones. Sorry fellows I screwed up!!! Their is no way of ever knowing what they were. No family. Just had to tell someone!!!

Maybe we should get a list of all the crushers and give them a few key Hudson people they can call before they squash em. It's all just junk money to them.

Then there was Mr Battista, owned a junkyard near St. Johnsville. I had heard he had a 40 in there from the late Bob Bateholts. We got there the day after the crusher. He told the guy running it to save out the 40. Next day the crusherman was sick and they had a sub on it. You guessed it, wadded the 40 right into it. Gone!

Can't save em all, but we can try.

We're all "car guys", or we wouldn't be on this board. But as I drive my car around, I'm surprised at how many people never give a second look. Sure, I get lots of waves, thumbs-up and smiles, but many folks pay no attention at all- the heirs probably just didn't care. And add to this the fact that this eccentric nonegenarian was probably estranged from EVERYBODY in his family, and its a classic case of "just get rid of everything, quick, so we can sell the place and be done." Heirs didn't want to mess with trying to find a buyer, then waiting for weeks until 14 cars could be moved. And probably, the same contractor who yarded everything out for the crusher was also the guy who was going to demolish all the old sheds and clean up the property, and couldn't wait, either.

Would probably be hard to find anyone on this board, much less someone close enough to do it, who would have bought 14 4-door sedans to take home and part out.

But they probably could have made some money by hauling the better ones out by the county road and putting For Sale signs on them. As long as they were out of the sheds and out of the way, the cleanup guy could have moved forward on the project.
