Remote Master Cylider Reservior
Just curious if any of you have converted your brake master cylinder to use a remote reservior on the firewall. I see the reserviors for sale on ebay, but I was wondering what you did for the master cylinder cap. If I recall correctly, I believe mine had some sort of vent built into the cap. Sure would be easier than pulling up my carpet.

Rich - I installed a remote reservior on my '50 Super Six. My master cylinder had a plastic cap which I replaced with a metel one from an old master cyl. I sealed this cap with a teflon gasket. I drilled and tapped this cap to 1/8" pipe and installed a fitting to 1/4" tubing. I made a reservior from a glass fuel filter mounted to the fire wall. I used 1/4" flexable tubing between the res. and the cyl.It works fine. Naturally the cap has to be sealed perfectly or it won't work. any questions - give me a call. (909) 984 5544. Thanks for the follow up Herm. I'll definetly give it a shot. I just need to see if i can find an old cap in my parts stash. I am a little reluctant to try it on the new one on my car.

Hi:
Do you have any more details (or pictures) on how you made the reservoir? How did you attach the tubing at the glass bowl? Is the reservoir cap vented?
Also did Hudson or the aftermarket make such a kit? I thought I remember them but maybe it was just a nice D-I-Y project.

I have seen those in HotRod publications ,might look there,

That should be a link to one in the "Jegs" on line cattalog for a remote master cylinder reservoir,

That Jegs kit looks ideal and would be a quick install, but, unfortunately, the plastic tank just wouldn't look right under the hood. I'd still like to see the "fuel bowl" solution or if there was a Hudson or period aftermarket piece available. I'd imagine there was such a kit back when, because so many vehicles had the master cylinder under the floor boards.0

I just posted that to show you they are out there. Seems like Ive seen metal ones that looked like small single master cylinders too.
