Portland swap meet

Hi Dave, I went to the Portland swap meet for 26 years in a row as a vendor. You'll find parts for everything up there, unless it's changed drastically in the last 20 years. I quit going up there 20 years ago because the cost of the trip and motels was taking everything I made at the meet, and I used to do very well up there, but I was on the road for 8 days doing it! Nothing bad to say about the meet though, it's run pretty well by the people who put it on. The bad thing might be finding a motel room as they're usually reserved a year in advance. Sat down one time with a friend of mine, who used to do Hershey, and we figured that Portland was about 1/4 the size of Hershey. As a vendor you are given a list of rules, one of them is, "you must have at least 50% of your parts for pre 1960 autos and trucks" another was " no sunglasses, t-shirts, chain saw statues, etc are allowed" they try to keep it restricted to old car parts. You'll find as much Hudson exposure as they had market share when thy were in business is a good rule of thumb and that holds for other makes as well. You'll also find a good portion of Canadian parts, at least I always did. Anyway good luck and enjoy, it's a great meet.0

I've been a couple of times- with bum knee and LOTS of walking, its not as much fun as it used to be. I just refuse to get a little jitney to ride around on yet.
Jim Harmon lived about 30 miles out of Portland, and used to have a booth- but now he's passed on. The times I've been there, not much other Hudson stuff. But if you're a "car guy" in general, you'll enjoy it.0 -
I went last year, There were at least three venders their. You might post what you are looking for on here. They have something else going on, a circus i think so it going to be tight on space. First year they have ever done that? John0

Dave 11,
There are two separate swap meets going on at the same time in Portland. There is a shuttle bus that runs between the two. The bus is free. The main swap meet at the Portland Exposition costs $7 and the PIR racetrack costs $5 (last year's prices).
Last year our local Hudson club set up at the racetrack and I believe they will again this year. I went to the racetrack one year to see Jim Harmon. Now I go only to the Exposition.

It sounds good I'll be there, it's about 12 hrs from here. Think I'll pull an RV for accomodations. I'm guessing they will likely have mobility scooters for rent?
my dad would like to come along but not sure how he will handle all the leg work.
For any vendors that will be attending I am in need of the following
> 262 cast iron head
> arm rest drivers door (brown)
> exhaust manifold
> front bumper horse collar grill

You might try giving a call before you go to:
CHRIS DIRK – (HARMON’S HUDSON): STEP DOWNS: CELL: 503-341-2071
BUSINESS: 503-324-7041
He may have everything you need...

I went a couple years ago as well. As Mike said, LOTS of walking between the two different spots and the shuttles are a big help and full.
Lots of car stuff but very very little for Hudson and almost zilch for 30's years. Even the Hudson spot(s) didnt really have much for parts.
Best idea is to find out who is going and have them bring what you need.

If anyone sees one of these hubcaps pick it up for me.0
