I personally do not have any problem with the HET Club selling advertising (large ads) to businesses that offer parts and products that help us to keep our cars on the road and in an acceptable condition to display at the various venues around the country. At some time or another the club is going to have to devise a system to help offset the ever increasing costs of publishing and mailing out the White Triangle News.

I agree, wholeheartedly. Or, in addition to the above, how about a regular article "interviewing" some of our many Hudson Parts providers. Like a profile piece on either a club member doing some of these small-run mfg. specifically targeted towards HET products, or one of the larger companies which include Hudson parts amongst their other marques.0 -
Kdancy By "play ball" I meant reciprical agreements,ie, If the club sponsors advertising the companies will be more sympathetic to the parts needs of the HET members. A good business relationship. Example, Steele rubber gets a page space in the WTN, members who need a rear window gasket for a 53 coupe can suggest to Steele to make a run of them .0

Thanks guys. My intent was to stir up some brainstorming and ideas and send them to your directors. I just got off the email "horn" with Sam Jackson regarding a major cost saver for the WTN. I will let him explain it when he feels it is the right time, it's his gig. Ron0

Strange, but I guess I never had an awareness of an ad restriction, and it did not occur to me that WTN did not do commercial ads - just that for sale items appeared in the classifieds section.
I am open to input, but I see no reason not to sell ads. They are putting ads on school buses and private cars. Seems like an obvious missing revenue stream. Is or was there some fear that the ads would somehow get out of control? Where are the meeting minutes on this policy?0 -
Phil, The Cadillac LaSalle club places a full page add from General Motors for new Cadillacs. Maybe HET could get Chrysler to buy a space. There is no limit to the options for ad space.0

That kind of advertising would make a huge difference in the WTN budget, and probably beyond that, to the benefit of the members.
Incidentally, I left a phone message for Dick bell (Full Line Reproductions) and got a call back. We had a nice chat and he explained about the revised plan for selling their wares, and it seems that he will continue as before. He had hoped to have a local guy take over the sales/order fulfillment aspect (only) so as to relieve him and his wife from having to devote their evenings to this, since he continues to run his commercial glass company during the day.
My new rear window gasket will arrive at the body shop next week.0
