I think I've asked this before, but have forgotten the answer. When replacing the oil pan, what kind of gasket seal should I use?

  • Jason, I will provide a reference URL for gasket sealers

    http://www.mondellotwister.com/GasketsSealants.htm

As you read down thru the list one of interest is the following:

    3H Gasket Sealer, Aviation #3
Non-hardening gasket sealer for rear main seals, oil pans, oil pump to rear main cap
    sealing, etc. (4 fl.oz.)

NAPA or A-Zone will probably have a close substitute,
    and perhaps cheaper.

I went to NAPA and bought a piece of gasket material
that cost about $15; I cut my own "1-piece oil pan
gasket" from a tan material ~ 1/16" thick that is a
pressed combination of cork and rubber, etc.

These are two of my recommendations for the lower end,
    or some variation therefrom. laugh.gif
