routing of exhaust on '35 t-plane 6

hello, the previous owner ran the exhaust off the manifold through the engine compartment. straight down off the manifold, then straight back right past the fuel pump and oil lines, cut the frame to enlarge a lightening hole in an X-member with the muffler mounted up tight against the floorboards. is this how hudson did it? it looks to me like there is a cutout in the sod pans made for the exhaust off the manifold to go through then back...keeping all of that heat away from the fuel pump and oil and fuel lines. anybody know for sure? thanks, tom

The exhaust has a "dog-leg" in it from the manifold, to go through the hole in the splash pans, as you have noted. I can't remember how the muffler was mounted, sorry.

I have looked at my '36 Terraplane. The exhaust front pipe as Geoff says has a dogleg and drops down through the hole in the splash pans ahead of the oilpump. It then travels parallel to the ground until immediately rear of the gearbox crossmember and then kicks up and goes in to the round muffler which is mounted close to the floorboards in the space between the main chassis rail and the two ends of the crossmember.

    Hope that all makes sense.
