'52 Hornet Interior questions
Does anyone have experience refinishing the window sills on a '52 Hornet? Or any reecommendations for someone to do these.....I believe Hudson called the pattern "cracked ice"
What color did the horn buttons come in on the '52? Blue/Green /Red,as the '53's did, or were they all a goldish brown? Was the steering wheel plastic marbelized, and colored to harmonize?
I must say, Hudson went all out on the '52 Hornet interiors.Much nicer than Cadillacs/Packards, IMHO.....

I'm setting here looking at the front cover of the '52 brochure that has the Hornet/Commodore Steering Wheel pictured. It is a marbleized medium blue wheel, and the center cover looks to be silver with four blueish center sections in the triangle.

I think I can help. The blue interior had marbled blue steering wheel. The brown interiors had a solid red wheel like the 51s. The center of the wheel on the blue interior was silver with a blue triangle. The brown interior had a gold back ground with a red triangle. I owned a 52 with a blue interior since 1960 and just sold it. I think the 52 Hornet interior was the best interior Hudson ever offered.I liked the brown color the best.0

Looks like a very nice car. It would be welcome in my garage anytime. It has been redone inside and very close to original. The steering wheel horn button is a 51. The back ground should be a light gold. Maybe it is a early 52????0

A Hudson. that is a 53-54 radio. though more likely to get a left over older model installed by the dealer, it is conceivable that a late 52 got a 53 radio dealer installed whan new.0 -
Indeed the radio is a very late 52 and carried over to the 53 year ( rectangular push buttons. These radios were supplied by Sylvania. Marconi (Steve Engel) is an expert on them.0

The Hollywood on Ebay, Looks fairly nice. BUT the interior is not very close to original, color or pattern. and it sure doesnt have the original paint. In fact the paint appears to have some serious issues. RD0

R.D. is right. Also, look at the lower door and fender mouldings....bright and not painted...a dead give away for a repaint. Also, the guy listing the car is a full blown prick who is severely lacking in Hudson knowledge. By the way, the reserve is $35K0 -

Is a nice looking car in my book. Though I personally don't think 35K is a low reserve, I'd lean toward this car at 35k than the '53 sedan which just sold for 40k.
And someone could have swapped out the stainless on the lower panels. I put stainless on the 53 sedan I once had in place of the painted pieces as I liked the look of the stainless better.0 -
First of all, it probably is an ok car. The thing that gives me a rash is the guy wants you to thing he's got the car in A-1 shape...after all, they "sorted out all the mechanicals"....Yup...sorted out all the mechanicals, but he has no idea about the engine....zero....Apparently, they put a new clutch in it. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even know it's supposed to be a wet clutch. And if you ask the guy a question, he'll remind you that he owns Duesenbergs and that he knows original paint when he sees it and that he is quite sure that the car is out of your price range. After all, the owner of the car is an UN-Named prominent eastern collector....WOW! I'm impressed. Look at the crack in the paint at the back edge of the hood....see how thick the paint is there? Anyone who's been around stepdowns for more than a week knows that's not where the paint normally cracks on these cars. I guess it just bothers me to see people touting these cars who don't know the cars, don't love the cars and could care less other than to flip the car for a "prominent eastern collector :evil: :woohoo: :evil:0
